Dear Subscriber

Hard to believe that it's nearly the end of April already!

I hope you've all been in good health and I do hope that you found my little gift to you in the last e-zine to be useful. Yes, it was about public speaking and not everyone does a lot of that. However, more and more we're expected to 'say a few words' as the saying goes. Let me know if you found it helpful in any way.

Ten things for which I am grateful

I've had a very busy time in April - celebrating Passover and two Easters. Many of my closest friends here in Melbourne are Jewish or Muslim. Thankfully for me, they include me in their main festivals and days of rejoicing.

Having been born in Dublin it'll be no surprise to find that my immediate family is Catholic. I follow a spiritual path not bound to any one religion but my late husband Sotiris (Sam) was Greek Orthodox, so the Greek half of my family celebrates Easter at a different time - except every so often when the two coincide.

Whether it's a birthday, wedding, anniversary or major religious holiday, every day is to be celebrated. As I write that I have to confess that I don't always remember that. It's easy to get so caught up in the day-to-day that yet another precious twenty-four hours have passed without a second's thought of how grateful I am to be alive and well.

Can you readily think of ten things for which you're grateful?

I can. In fact, it was very easy to write out ten things in and about my life for which I owe a debt of gratitude. I've just written them and if you want to see that list, I'll gladly send it to you: email me at jeannette@calmingwords.com For now, I've printed out my list so that I can use it to remember that I am a very fortunate person.

And you? Do you already have such a list? Are you one of those special people who regularly takes time to acknowledge your blessings and all the people and things in your life for which you can be grateful? If so, congratulations. I'm afraid I do forget to literally....count my blessings.

Improve your vision

I hate wearing reading glasses

I admit that it's partly a matter of vanity. It's also a matter of convenience. Those glasses of mine were never where I left them: they kept hiding from me. Also, when I'm giving a talk in public, or taking notes, I needed glasses to read my notes but when I looked at the audience, the people were blurry. Well, they weren't blurry, they just seemed that way.

I'd resigned myself to the idea that I was on the slippery slope to ever more stronger prescriptions as I aged my way through life. Even my Optometrist told me that there was nothing I could do to improve my eyesight's deterioration.

Now I don't have to wear them

I was looking for something else on the Internet and came across a number of sites to do with sight. Isn't English wonderful!!

Long story short, I bought the Vision For Life program. It's a thirty-day program but after only a few days, I noticed that my eyes were less tired than usual. Within a week or so, I realised that I could actually read the newspaper with searching for those always-missing specs.

Now, I still do a few very easy exercises each week and that's it. I can't begin to tell you how exciting it is to be able to type this to you without my glasses.

What's Blocking Your Success?

You are probably aware that if you are not where you want to be in your life in terms of success – personal, financial, or otherwise – you are blocked. There is something in the way - between you and the results you desire in your life.

In a word – it could be summed up as "YOU"…you are the block that is getting in the way of creating the life you want. You might be thinking it’s about motivation, action, willpower, stamina, or something of the like. Are those things important in generating success in your life? Maybe… But it is important to know that those qualities (and lack of, really) are a by-product of a deeper operating system within you that governs what you create in your life.

What about the blocks that seem to be out of your control? The boss that refuses to see the hard work your doing…or maybe it’s just the economy. It could even be the weather depending on what you have chosen to do. How do you deal with those blocks? The answers are endless certainly, but the good news is – you are still at choice – and the better you get at clearing the blocks you CAN control, the better your whole life seems to flow. Those external circumstances, again as a by-product, start to miraculously clear themselves. Don’t believe me? Keep reading and give it a try.

So, whether YOU are getting in your way – or some external circumstance are in your way – the question is always do I REALLY want to change it? Very important question, because sometimes you don’t really want to clear your blocks as they serve a higher purpose or payoff. And then, if so, what should I do about it?

I want to make the point, that if your life is free- or at least not bogged down by -"blocks" - success and prosperity can to come into your life with ease. Think of your life as a stream. Each time you throw in a rock it creates a ripple. The more rocks you throw in, the more ripples, the more blocks, the harder time the river has being "in flow". Now, throw in a few boulders – and that stream is going to be struggling, and not to mention very slow.

If you would like success to flow freely into your life – you NEED to make sure the rocks – I mean blocks – are removed.

Top 5 Prosperity Blocks

  1. Physical Clutter – We live in a physical and energetic universe. If you want the laws of manifestation to work in your life it’s good to mirror "space" and "room" into that energetic universe. Make space in your life for goodness to come in. Literally see yourself removing physical clutter and picking the rocks from your stream as you clean a closet.
  1. Emotional Clutter – ask yourself, "what emotional clutter do I need to handle?" Begin to clear, release, forgive, etc. Journal, talk to a coach, counselor, or read for emotional learning and awareness. It’s a journey – one piece of emotional clutter at a time.
  1. Negative Emotion – "Do I anger easily? Do I hold grudges? How long do I hang onto negative events in my day?" Identify when you are swept up in negative emotion and choose something different. Any negative emotion can jam up the flow of prosperity in your life.
  1. Negative Beliefs About Your Self or the World – This is a huge one, and sometimes the hardest to identify. Not only is it a "block" but it many times provides emotional protection and safety for you. It can be a double-edged sword indeed. Ask, "What do I believe to be true about my self that holds me back from where I want to be? What higher purpose is served for that belief?" Again, work with your coach to get to the bottom of the beliefs that limit you.
    Limited beliefs = limited success.
  1. Resistance – any kind. – "Where do I feel resistance in my life or in my body." Give yourself permission to breathe out resistance when you feel it within.

Coach’s Challenge

It’s is hard – and really impossible - to take on the huge task of removing your blocks all at one time. Start right where you are. Move into some personal awareness and some soul searching. Be truthful with yourself… which may be difficult as your blocks are often times set up to protect you and keep you from what you fear the most, or they are set up to validate your deepest limiting beliefs.

Make sure you keep it simple, and pick one thing in each of these areas to address each day – even with a thought, a reframe, or a positive affirmation. Challenge yourself as you see fit and feel comfortable to do more work in these areas.
